Mountaineering Equipment & Supplies

CLOTHING:
Windbreaker or jacket, enough pair of pants, a pair of shorts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, woolen head cap, gloves, cap, raincoat.

FOOTWEAR:
Light boots or comfortable pair of rubber shoes with good traction, rubber slippers, enough pair of thick socks.

FOOD:
Bread, rice, dried meat, canned goods ( in limited number ), coffee, sugar, milk, cocoa, salt, fruit juice concentrates, chocolate candies, cheese, sausage, dried fish, smoked fish, tocino, beef tapa, chicken adobo, instant soups, noodles, onions, garlic, tomatoes, and other vegetables as desired.

OTHERS:
Light cooking equipment, camping stove, plastic or aluminum plates, spoon and fork, cups, pocket knife, water canteen, tissue paper, flashlight with extra batteries & bulbs, match / lighter, soap, first aid kit, sleeping bag or thick blanket, plastic sheets, tent, camera, candles, nylon strings, whistle, sewing needles and thread, plastic bag for garbage.( NOTE: No mountaineering equipment available for rent in Kidapawan City.)

RECOMMENDED TIME OF YEAR FOR TREK:
The hike may be undertaken anytime of the year since the area is not within the typhoon belt, but preferably during the months of October, November, December, March and April.

GENERAL WEATHER CONDITION IN THE AREA:
Rainfall is more or less evenly distributed throughout the year. Mountain climates, however, differ from that of the lowlands, in temperature and rainfall.

CONSERVATION CLAUSE:
For purposes of preserving the natural beauty of Mt. Apo for others to enjoy and relish, and in order to conserve wildlife habitat, climbers are strictly enjoined to observe the following Do's and Don'ts:

Carry away with you and your trash
Trails and camping grounds should be kept clean and sanitary at all times.

Do not leave marks on tree trunks, rocks, boulders or other natural structure.

Do not molest or harm the animals in the area, or destroy flowers and other flora.

No building of fire for cooking or for any other purpose. Climbers are not required to bring with them camping stoves.

REMEMBER THIS MOUNTAINEERING DICTUM:

" Leave nothing but footprints: take nothing but photos , kill nothing but time."
